TRANSPORT LOGISTICS TECHNICIAN - DISPATCHER

Dispatchers operate radios and other telecommunication equipment to dispatch vehicles and co-ordinate the activities of drivers and other personnel. They determine, negociate, prepare, and organise the transit (national and international) of goods and persons, while looking for the best value for money. They complete supervision, inventory management, and storage tasks, as well as selling tranport services. They implement the different steps of the logistics process (i.e. purchasing, transit, customs clearance and distribution).

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Plan trips
  • Identify orders to be shipped
  • Evaluate equipment and personnel requirements to complete orders
  • Select vehicles and equipment required for trips
  • Plan routes and schedules for trips
  • Dispatch drivers for the trips to be made
  • Give drivers the relevant information and documents for trips
  • Ensure routes and schedules are adhered to during trips
  • Ensure drivers respect the company’s rules and procedures
  • Make the necessary arrangements when something unexpected happens
  • Supervise drivers during trips
  • Update the data on trips made
  • Control documents used for trips when drivers return
  • Transmit the information
  • Provide customer service.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Hold a Secondary School Diploma
